  The initiation of Center for the Promotion of Zigong Local Cultures (hereinafter referred to as “The Center”) is  based on  the 13th Five-year Plan of Zigong city and Sichuan University of Science and Engineering , relying  on  the  existing  Social Sciences Popularization Center of the School of Foreign Languages of the University. The Center observes such construction principle: “gaining foothold of the available resources and giving top priority to proper features; adhering to” and sticks to the target positioning: “to act Sichuan local, radiate national and oriented global”. Currently, an academic team comprised of professors from Foreign Languages School, Humanities School, Fine Arts School and Music School has taken shape, who are of reasonable age structure, profound in knowledge, high in academic level, and committed to promotion of locally characteristic culture of Zigong city, Sichuan Province and even China. During the construction period and under the background of the B&R Initiative, In June 2018, Zigong was recognized as the first batch of national cultural export bases. In order to better polish the "golden signboard" of the first batch of national cultural export base in Sichuan, the base has held various large-scale activities such as oral English, translation competition, simulation of the United Nations, etc,the Center intends to hold programs like spoken foreign languages contests, translation contests and Model UN etc. and have works related to promotion of locally characteristic culture published to form a strong atmosphere of attaching great importance to the protection and publicity of local culture , create a cultural industry environment adapting to the development of local cultures of Zigong and help Zigong local characteristic culture go out. Based on the pattern of "big culture" in Zigong, focusing on promoting tourism, industry and city with culture, adhering to the orientation of cultural industrialization and industrial culture, exploring the characteristic mode of collaborative innovation and development of local and university culture, doing a good job in the publicity of local characteristic culture, fully demonstrating the leading and driving role of Zigong in promoting the "going out" of Sichuan culture And Sichuan, and even the country's local characteristic culture to contribute to the external communication, so that more people understand Zigong, pay attention to Zigong.
